Great turnout for the mass bands parade through Carnoustie to the Carnoustie Gala held in the House Grounds. Big thanks to Arbroath Pipe Band and members of other bands who joined the ranks for the parade.

British Championships, Paisley

PaisleyCarnoustie headed for Paisley to compete in their first Major competition in Grade 3B. Despite missing out on a place, it proved a good day out and well done to those competing in their first Major with the band.

Loch Leven Competition, KInross

Band_Kinross_2016Fine sunny day at Kinross for Carnoustie’s first outdoor contest of the season. The band collected a 2nd place trophy in Grade 3, and were placed 3rd in Grade 2.

Bagpipes donated to the band

Carnoustie and District Pipe Band is a set of bagpipes better off thanks to the kindness of a local ex-piper. Mr George Roger of Carnoustie visited band practice to meet the band and hand over the bagpipes.

Mr Roger is a former player with a number of bands including the Black Watch, MacLeod Pipe Band, Arbroath Legion Pipe Band, Bullionfield Pipe Band and is a former Pipe Major with the NCR Pipe Band.

The Music Board met on Saturday 16th January and approved the following grading changes for the 2016 season. These were approved at the meeting by the Board of Directors.

By Request

College of Piping Pipes and Drums – Re-graded by request from Grade 4B to Grade 3B.

Scotch College (Melbourne) Australia – Re-graded by request from Grade Juvenile to Grade Novice Juvenile A.

Carnoustie and District Pipe Band – Re-graded by request from Grade 4A to Grade 3B.

Kelty and Blairadam Pipe Band – Re-graded by request from Grade Novice Juvenile B to Grade 4B.
